Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Maia. By accessing or using the app, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Maia, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Your continued use of Maia after any changes to these terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.
2. Description of Service
Maia is an AI-powered skincare tracking and analysis application. It uses computer vision and artificial intelligence to assess visible skin characteristics from photos you provide, and offers personalised skincare guidance and routine recommendations. Maia is a cosmetic guidance tool only. It is not a medical service or diagnostic platform.
3. Not Medical Advice
The information, analysis, and recommendations provided by Maia are for cosmetic and general skincare guidance purposes only. Nothing in Maia constitutes medical advice, a medical diagnosis, or a substitute for professional medical treatment.
If you have any skin concerns that may be medical in nature, including but not limited to suspicious moles, severe acne, infections, rashes, or unexplained skin changes. Please consult a qualified dermatologist or healthcare professional. Do not delay seeking medical advice based on anything you read or see in this app.
4. Age Requirement
You must be at least 16 years old to use Maia. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If we become aware that a user is under 16, we will promptly suspend or delete their account.
5. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You may only create one account per person. Do not share your account with others. Notify us immediately at support@maia.app if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.
6. Scan Limits
Free tier accounts are currently limited to 10 skin scans per month. Maia Plus subscribers receive additional scans as outlined in the current plan details. Scan limits are subject to change. We will notify users in advance of any reductions to existing plan limits.
7. Privacy & Data
Your privacy matters to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details on how we collect, use, and protect your data. As a summary: face images you submit for analysis are automatically deleted after processing and are never stored long-term. Analysis results and routine data are retained to power your personalised experience and can be deleted at any time from Settings.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse Maia. Prohibited conduct includes but is not limited to:
- •Uploading images that contain content that is illegal, offensive, or violates the rights of others.
- •Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the app or its AI systems.
- •Using Maia for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.
- •Impersonating another person or creating multiple accounts to circumvent scan limits.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that engage in prohibited conduct.
9. Intellectual Property
All content within Maia, including but not limited to the Maia name, brand, AI analysis system, interface designs, copy, and generated routines, is owned by us or our licensors. You are granted a limited, non-transferable licence to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes only. Nothing in these terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.
10. Limitation of Liability
Maia is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any skincare outcomes, skin reactions, or adverse effects arising from following recommendations made by the app. Individual skin responses vary, and results are not guaranteed. You use Maia at your own risk and should always patch-test new products and consult a professional where needed.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Maia shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Maia at any time if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we discontinue the service. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where changes are material, notify you via email or an in-app notice. Your continued use of Maia after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
